Import your Vanguard holdings

Earnings Bird can build your watchlist from Vanguard's spreadsheet download so you don't have to search for every ticker by hand. Vanguard's file is quirkier than most brokers', and Earnings Bird knows its shape.

1. Download your holdings from Vanguard

1. Log in at vanguard.com on the web.
2. Go to My Accounts → Transaction history (Vanguard also calls this the Download center, under Activity) and select Download.
3. Choose a spreadsheet-compatible CSV file as the format and pick your accounts. Any date range works; the holdings section of the file always reflects what you own now.
4. Download the file.

Vanguard puts two things in one file: your current holdings first, then a transaction history section. Earnings Bird reads only the holdings section and ignores the transactions entirely, so old trades never pollute your watchlist.

2. Upload it to Earnings Bird

1. Open your dashboard and start adding a stock.
2. Switch to Bulk add mode.
3. Select Import your broker's CSV export and choose the file you downloaded.
4. Your holdings fill the box. Review the list, remove any you don't want, then add them.

What Earnings Bird reads from the file

Your privacy matters here, so this is deliberately narrow. The CSV is read entirely in your browser. Only the resulting stock symbols (and company names) are sent to Earnings Bird to build your watchlist. Your position sizes, share counts, prices, and dollar amounts are never uploaded. They're used only on your own device, then discarded.

What gets skipped

• The transactions section at the bottom of the file.
• Cash and settlement fund rows without a plain stock ticker.

A note for fund-heavy Vanguard accounts: mutual fund symbols (like VTSAX) can appear in the review list, but funds don't report earnings, so they won't get report dates. Remove them during review, or simply leave them out when adding.

A stock is missing. What happened?

Check that the row exists in the holdings section of your file (not just in the transactions below it) and that its symbol is a plain US ticker. You can always add anything by searching for its ticker on the dashboard.
