Import your E*TRADE holdings

Earnings Bird can build your watchlist from E*TRADE's positions download so you don't have to search for every ticker by hand. E*TRADE (now part of Morgan Stanley) offers the download on both the classic website and Power E*TRADE.

1. Download your positions from E*TRADE

  1. Log in at etrade.com (or Power E*TRADE) on the web.
  2. Open your Portfolios (or Positions) view.
  3. Select the download arrow near the top right of the positions table and save the CSV. With several accounts, export one account at a time.

E*TRADE moves this control around between site versions. If you don't see a download arrow, look for an export or download option on whatever page lists your current positions; any positions CSV with a Symbol column works.

2. Upload it to Earnings Bird

  1. Open your dashboard and start adding a stock.
  2. Switch to Bulk add mode.
  3. Select Import your broker's CSV export and choose the file you downloaded.
  4. Your holdings fill the box. Review the list, remove any you don't want, then add them.

What Earnings Bird reads from the file

Your privacy matters here, so this is deliberately narrow. The CSV is read entirely in your browser. Only the resulting stock symbols (and company names) are sent to Earnings Bird to build your watchlist. Your position sizes, share counts, prices, and dollar amounts are never uploaded. They're used only on your own device, then discarded.

What gets skipped

  • Cash rows and totals without a plain stock ticker.
  • Option positions. Earnings Bird tracks stock earnings, so option rows are ignored.

A stock is missing. What happened?

Check that the row exists in your exported file and that its symbol is a plain US ticker. Make sure you exported positions, not transaction history: a transactions file lists trades, not what you hold. You can always add anything by searching for its ticker on the dashboard.
